Telangana state government recruitment runs mainly through two bodies: the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC), formerly known as TSPSC, and the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB), which recruits for the police and several uniformed departments. In 2026 the picture is mixed. TGPSC has issued notifications for specific posts but no new Group-I to IV notification, while the police board has a large recruitment under way.
This guide summarises what the official websites showed on 9 October 2026, explains the 2026 age-limit changes, and walks through the most recent Group-I scheme so you know what to prepare for. It does not predict when the next Group notification will come.
Checked against TGPSC and TSLPRB notices on 9 October 2026. The old tspsc.gov.in addresses did not respond when we checked; use the TGPSC site.
TGPSC: where the Group recruitments stand
TGPSC's direct recruitment page listed no Group-I, II, III or IV notification issued in 2025 or 2026. The most recent Group notifications are still being completed:
| Recruitment | Latest official step |
|---|---|
| Group-I (Notification 02/2024, 563 vacancies) | Provisional selection list dated 24 September 2025, listing 562 candidates. TGPSC states the final list is subject to the outcome of Writ Appeal No. 1066 of 2025 and connected cases |
| Group-II (Notification 28/2022) | Provisional selection notification dated 28 September 2025 |
| Group-III (Notification 29/2022) | Selections issued in phases, including notices of 18 December 2025, 1 June 2026 and 24 June 2026 |
| Group-IV (Notification 19/2022) | Notices filling withheld vacancies, the latest in July 2026 |
If you are waiting for a new Group notification, there is no official date to plan around yet. Prepare for the published scheme and check the TGPSC notifications page regularly.
TGPSC's 2026 notifications for specific posts
TGPSC has issued 2026 notifications for individual posts, such as Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil) in the Roads and Buildings Department (Notification 01/G/RB/2026, 222 vacancies) and Deputy Educational Officer / Gazetted Head Master Grade-I (Notification 03/G/SE/2026). A web note of 28 September 2026 scheduled computer-based tests for some of them:
| Notification | Post | CBT date |
|---|---|---|
| 01/OG/PC/2026 | Assistant Scientist (Analyst Grade-II), Telangana Pollution Control Board | 24 October 2026 |
| 02/OG/PC/2026 | Assistant Environmental Engineer, Telangana Pollution Control Board | 26 October 2026 |
| 01/G/RB/2026 | Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil), Roads and Buildings | 6 and 7 November 2026 |
| 03/G/SE/2026 | Deputy Educational Officer / Gazetted Head Master Grade-I | 12 and 13 November 2026 |
The 2026 age-limit change
Both 2026 notifications quoted above carry this note: under G.O.Ms.No.86 of the General Administration (Services-A) Department dated 18 May 2026, "the upper age limit is raised up to 10 years i.e., from 34 years to 44 years". For uniformed services, a separate order, G.O.Ms.No.87 of the same date, raised the upper limit for direct recruitment by five years.
Worked example (illustrative): for a TGPSC post with an age band of 18–44 on 1 July 2026, a candidate born on 15 August 1984 is 41 on that date and falls within the band. A candidate born in 1979 is 46 or 47 and does not, unless a category relaxation in the notification applies. Always use the reference date and relaxations printed in the specific notification.

The police board issued four notifications on 29 July 2026 for 7,437 vacancies across four departments, according to its press note of 17 September 2026:
| Department | SI / ASI level | Police Constable level | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Police | 200 | 4,800 | 5,000 |
| Special Protection Force | 44 | 1,380 | 1,424 |
| Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence | 39 | 751 | 790 |
| Prisons and Correctional Services | 15 | 208 | 223 |
| Total | 298 | 7,139 | 7,437 |
Key points from the board's notices:
- Applications ran from 19 August to 16 September 2026, after an extension.
- Preliminary Written Tests are tentatively on 29 November 2026 for SI-level posts and 20 December 2026 for constable-level posts.
- Age relaxation: the board says the government allowed 7 years over the recruitment-rule maximum for SI/ASI-level and Police Constable (Driver) posts, and 10 years for other constable-level posts. The constable notification gives a base band of 18 to 22 years on 1 July 2026 for several post codes, with the additional relaxation on top.
- Qualification: the constable notification requires Intermediate or equivalent.
- Stages: Preliminary Written Test, then physical measurement and efficiency tests for those who qualify, then a Final Written Examination.
The board reported 5,77,064 applications filed by about 4,29,000 candidates. Against 7,437 vacancies, that is roughly 78 applications and 58 candidates per vacancy (5,77,064 ÷ 7,437 ≈ 77.6; 4,29,000 ÷ 7,437 ≈ 57.7). The ratio differs sharply between posts, so read the vacancy table for the post you applied for.
What the last Group-I scheme looked like
The most recent Group-I notification (02/2024) is the best guide to TGPSC's flagship examination until a new one is issued:
- Preliminary Test: General Studies and Mental Ability, 150 objective questions, 150 marks, 2½ hours.
- Main Examination: a qualifying General English paper (150 marks, not counted for ranking) plus six papers of 150 marks each, for 900 marks: General Essay; History, Culture and Geography; Indian Society, Constitution and Governance; Economy and Development; Science and Technology and Data Interpretation; and Telangana Movement and State Formation.
- No interview appeared in the scheme of that notification.
- Medium: question papers are set in English and translated into Telugu and Urdu, with the English version treated as authentic.
- Local reservation: the notification applied 95% local reservation to posts in Multi Zone-I and Multi Zone-II, citing G.O.Ms.No.124 of 30 August 2018, which also defines who counts as a local candidate.
The Telangana Movement paper is the one most national-level material does not cover, so it deserves early attention.
