IBPS Clerk revision: three timed Prelims tests, then a separate Main

Use the listed papers to practise Prelims pacing and accuracy. Then plan the separately timed tests and the Main from the 2026 IBPS notice. A practice score is not an IBPS normalised score or a cut-off.

Pace three separately timed Prelims tests

The IBPS CRP CSA-XVI notice (2026) lists English Language (30 questions, 20 minutes), Numerical Ability (35 questions, 20 minutes) and Reasoning Ability (35 questions, 20 minutes): 100 questions for 100 marks in 60 minutes. Each test is separately timed, and a cut-off must be cleared in each one. The listed cards show one overall timer, so time each subject yourself when you use the 100-question paper. The 50- and 7-question sets are shorter practice, not full Prelims simulations.

Check yourself: In your last 100-question attempt, which subject took longer than 20 minutes?

Treat negative marking as an attempt decision

The notice deducts one-quarter of a question's marks for each wrong answer; a question left blank carries no penalty. The listed papers' attempt screens show +1 and −0.25, which matches one mark per Prelims question. Record guesses separately from method errors, so that you know whether eliminating options actually helps you.

Check yourself: Of your wrong answers, how many were guesses and how many were method errors?

Plan the Main and later stages separately

The 2026 Main has General/Financial Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude: 160 questions for 200 marks in 125 minutes. Marks per question vary by test; for example, Reasoning has 40 questions for 60 marks. Only Main marks count for final merit, and a local language proficiency test follows unless your 10th-standard or higher marksheet shows the language. None of the listed papers is a Main paper, and none covers financial awareness.

Check yourself: Which Main test is missing from your plan, and where will you practise it?

Try an original worked exercise

In an original practice log, a 35-question Numerical Ability test carries one mark per question, with the notice's one-quarter penalty for a wrong answer. You answer 28 questions: 23 correct and 5 wrong, and leave 7 blank. What is the corrected score?

Show the worked answer
  1. Marks for correct answers: 23 × 1 = 23.
  2. Penalty: 5 × 0.25 = 1.25. The 7 blank questions carry no penalty.
  3. Corrected score: 23 − 1.25 = 21.75. Four wrong answers cancel one correct answer's mark.

Answer: 21.75 out of 35. This is raw practice arithmetic, not an IBPS normalised score or a cut-off prediction.

Next revision: After your next paper, list each wrong answer under English, numerical or reasoning, and mark it as a guess or a method error. Revise one group, then try a different paper before repeating this one.

Exam facts come from the IBPS CRP CSA-XVI notification dated 1 August 2026 (vacancies of 2027-28). Its 29 September 2026 corrigendum updated vacancies only. Its dates are tentative. The listed papers are independent KarmSakha practice, not IBPS question papers, and their single timer does not reproduce separately timed tests. The exercise is original. IBPS normalises corrected scores across sessions.
