The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) recruits teachers and other staff for departments and bodies of the Government of NCT of Delhi, including the Directorate of Education, which runs Delhi government schools. Teaching posts are advertised in DSSSB's numbered vacancy notices alongside many non-teaching posts, so the practical skill is knowing how to read those notices. This guide uses the teaching posts in DSSSB Advertisement No. 03/2026 as a worked example: vacancies, qualifications, pay, age limits, the exam scheme and the qualifying marks.
Source: DSSSB Advertisement No. 03/2026, dated 29 May 2026, published on dsssb.delhi.gov.in. Online applications ran from 16 June 2026 (12 noon) to 15 July 2026 (11:59 pm) through dsssbonline.nic.in, and 15 July 2026 was the cut-off date for eligibility. That window has closed; use this as a guide to how DSSSB teaching notices work, and check the board's website for new advertisements.

Keep preparing
Continue with Document Verification Checklist – Central and Defence Recruitment₹299 — coaching के एक महीने से काफ़ी सस्ता / far cheaper than a month of coachingEssential qualifications (summary)
| Post | What the notice requires |
|---|---|
| TGT – Computer Science | BCA; or graduation in computer science (studied as a main subject in all years); or BE/B.Tech in Computer Science/IT; or graduation in any subject plus DOEACC 'A' level |
| Domestic Science Teacher | Bachelor's degree in Domestic Science/Home Science and B.Ed with Domestic/Home Science as a teaching subject |
| TGT – Special Education Teacher | Graduation and a B.Ed in Special Education or a B.Ed (General) combined with a recognised special education diploma (several combinations are listed), and qualified in CTET |
| Special Educator – Primary | Class 12 plus one of the listed special education diplomas (for example a two-year D.Ed Special Education or a one-year Diploma in Special Education), and qualified in CTET (Primary stage) |
Requirements differ sharply between posts, even within the same advertisement. For example, the TGT (Computer Science) post in this notice did not list a B.Ed or CTET among its essential qualifications, while both special education posts required CTET. Always read the specific post code, not a general summary of "DSSSB teacher eligibility".
Age relaxation
The advertisement gives these upper-age relaxations for Group B and C posts (among others):
| Category | Relaxation |
|---|---|
| SC/ST | 5 years |
| OBC | 3 years |
| PwBD | 10 years (15 for PwBD + SC/ST, 13 for PwBD + OBC) |
| Ex-servicemen | Period of military service plus 3 years (maximum up to 55 years) |
There are also relaxations for government servants and contractual employees of the same department under the rules cited in the notice.
Exam scheme for teaching posts
For these post codes, DSSSB prescribed a one-tier (technical/teaching) examination:
| Section | Content | Questions and marks |
|---|---|---|
| A | General Awareness; General Intelligence and Reasoning; Arithmetical and Numerical Ability; Hindi Language and Comprehension; English Language and Comprehension (20 marks each) | 100 questions, 100 marks |
| B | The subject concerned, including questions on teaching methodology/B.Ed | 100 questions, 100 marks |
| Total | 2 hours | 200 questions, 200 marks |
Key rules:
- Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- Questions are bilingual (Hindi and English), except language questions.
- Minimum qualifying marks: General/EWS 40%, OBC (Delhi) 35%, SC/ST/PwBD 30%; ex-servicemen get a 5% relaxation within their category, subject to a minimum of 30%.
- For this teaching scheme, the minimum qualifying marks apply to Section B and to the combined total, but not to Section A on its own. The final merit list uses combined marks of both sections.
- Fee: ₹100; women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen candidates are exempt.
Worked example: why Section B decides your fate
Illustrative calculation for a General-category candidate (40% minimum):
- Section A: 70 correct, 20 wrong → 70 − (20 × 0.25) = 70 − 5 = 65
- Section B: 45 correct, 30 wrong → 45 − (30 × 0.25) = 45 − 7.5 = 37.5
- Combined: 65 + 37.5 = 102.5 out of 200 (51.25%)
The combined score is above 40%, but Section B is 37.5 out of 100, below the 40% minimum. Under the 2026 rules, this candidate would not qualify. Had the candidate skipped 12 of those 30 wrong Section B guesses, Section B would have been 45 − 4.5 = 40.5 and would have cleared the bar. Strong subject preparation and careful guessing in Section B matter more than polishing Section A.
How to prepare for a DSSSB teaching post
- Pick your post code first. Confirm you meet its essential qualification and age limit on the cut-off date in the advertisement.
- Build Section B around your subject. Revise the undergraduate subject content and B.Ed teaching methodology for your discipline.
- Keep Section A steady. Twenty marks each in general awareness, reasoning, numerical ability, Hindi and English reward regular short practice.
- Practise under negative marking. Track how many of your Section B guesses are wrong in mocks, and adjust.
- Watch the board's website. DSSSB publishes advertisements, exam schedules, admit card notices and answer-key objection links there.
Checklist before applying to a DSSSB notice
- Find your exact post code and department in the vacancy table.
- Match your degree, B.Ed and CTET status to the essential qualifications of that post.
- Check your age on the cut-off date, with any category relaxation.
- Note the exam scheme and the minimum qualifying marks for your category.
- Keep certificates ready for document verification.
DSSSB teacher recruitment is not one exam but a series of post-specific notices. Read the advertisement for your post code closely, and prepare hardest for the subject section that decides whether you qualify.
