Assemble one complete resume from a consistent evidence record
A fresher resume can be useful without inventing employment. It should identify your actual education, show relevant work in its proper context and connect supported capabilities to examples you can explain. Building the whole document from one evidence record helps prevent a truthful project paragraph from becoming an exaggerated profile or skill claim elsewhere.
This guide assembles a complete original resume for a specific fictional role. It focuses on the whole document: profile, education, supervised activity, independent artifact and supported capabilities. The candidate and vacancy are invented. The example is not a credential record or a template that guarantees selection.
Harvard's resume guidance supports specific, factual and relevant descriptions. It does not require every applicant to include a separate profile or establish a universal Indian personal-information format. The section choices below serve this supplied example; actual employer instructions take precedence.

An invented employer, Birch Operations Desk, describes a Junior Operations Assistant role involving clear notes and accurate recording of supplied quantities. The fictional brief asks applicants to explain relevant tasks. It provides no requirement for an advanced spreadsheet certification or prior paid employment, and this exercise does not determine actual eligibility.
The fictional applicant, Rohan, completed a BA in Economics in 2026. During a supervised college committee activity, he wrote a draft note from four supplied agenda points and submitted it to the faculty coordinator. No approval, adoption or publication of that note is supplied.
Separately, Rohan created an independent spreadsheet for six invented quantity records. The supplied quantities are 2, 3, 1, 4, 2 and 3. He entered them, used a sum formula and checked the displayed total of 15 against the arithmetic sum. This is practice work, not stock control for a business or proof of advanced spreadsheet expertise.
The fact sheet supplies no job, internship, certificate, customer relationship, revenue effect or productivity measurement. Those gaps are not permission to invent additional sections. A complete resume means a coherent account of the relevant available facts, not a document containing every possible heading.
The complete original resume
This plain-text document shows how the facts fit together. Contact and institution fields are placeholders. Do not copy Rohan's qualification, counts or tasks as your own evidence.

PROFILE
Economics graduate with supervised college note-drafting experience
and an independent quantity-recording spreadsheet. Interested in
junior operations work involving clear notes and supplied records.
Evidence includes a four-point draft note and a checked six-record
practice total; no business or client outcomes are claimed.
EDUCATION
BA in Economics — awarded 2026
[your actual institution]
SUPERVISED COLLEGE ACTIVITY
Committee-note draft
[actual setting and dates, if adapting]
- Wrote a draft note from four supplied agenda points.
- Submitted the draft to the faculty coordinator for the college
activity.
- No approval, adoption or publication is supplied in this example.
INDEPENDENT PRACTICE PROJECT
Quantity-recording spreadsheet
- Entered six invented quantities: 2, 3, 1, 4, 2 and 3.
- Used a sum formula and checked its displayed total of 15 against
the arithmetic sum of those supplied quantities.
- This was independent practice, not a business inventory system.
SUPPORTED CAPABILITIES
Drafting from supplied points — four-point committee-note example.
Recording supplied quantities — six-record practice spreadsheet.
Basic sum-formula use — checked total in that same spreadsheet.
ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE
No employment, internship or certification is supplied in this
fictional record. Add a real additional entry only when you have
accurate relevant information to support it.
The explanatory final section makes the example's boundary explicit. It need not appear as a list of absences in your actual resume. If a section has no relevant supported content, omit it instead of filling it with a fictional internship. Replace every remaining placeholder before any real submission.
Check the arithmetic behind the project claim
The independent exercise total is 2 + 3 + 1 + 4 + 2 + 3 = 15. The supplied spreadsheet observation is that its formula displayed 15. Matching that one total establishes a finite check on the supplied input, not the correctness of every possible spreadsheet record.
The entry says what was checked and how. It does not say Rohan validated real inventory, prevented losses or automated a company process. Those would require different facts. It also does not claim expertise with filters, macros or financial modelling simply because a sum formula was used.
If an interviewer asks what happens when a source quantity is missing, that is a new case. Rohan can explain that the six supplied inputs were present and that the missing-input behaviour was not part of the recorded check. He may propose a way to label an unknown, but should not claim the sheet already implements and tests that behaviour.
Repair the profile and skills together
Suppose an earlier draft begins: “Experienced operations professional who improved inventory accuracy.” Its skills section also says “advanced spreadsheet expert.” Both exceed the evidence record, even if the project entry itself is accurate.
A supported profile replacement is the one in the complete document: it identifies an economics graduate, a supervised drafting task and an independent spreadsheet. The skill replacement is “basic sum-formula use, evidenced by a checked six-record practice total.” Repairing only the profile would leave a contradiction in the skills section.
Use a whole-document audit:
| Section | Supported fact | Unsupported upgrade to remove |
|---|---|---|
| Profile | Graduate with relevant academic and practice evidence | Experienced operations employee |
| Education | Awarded BA in Economics, 2026 | An unstated advanced or professional qualification |
| College activity | Draft note submitted | Approved organisational policy or published minutes |
| Independent project | Six invented records, checked total | Real business inventory improvement |
| Capabilities | Specific drafting, entry and formula use | General expert status across tools |
The audit is an editorial aid, not a recruiter scoring formula. It does not establish how an employer will weigh the entries or whether the applicant meets an actual post's requirements.
Tailor the emphasis without changing history
For the supplied operations role, the quantity-recording artifact is relevant, so the project receives a clear description. If a different fictional brief emphasises note drafting, the supervised activity may deserve more prominence. Neither change turns the activity into employment or grants approval that was not supplied.
Use the actual role description to choose accurate emphasis. Avoid copying every keyword into the skills section when your evidence does not support it. A word appearing in the vacancy does not make it true of your experience, and this guide provides no ATS-pass guarantee.
The resume-summary guide develops shorter role-specific descriptions. The cover-letter format guide keeps the same evidence consistent in an attached letter. This article instead assembles the complete evidence record across sections so those shorter elements agree with the rest of the document.
Inspect the actual file before submission
Compare the finished document with your education and work records, then check the employer's required format, file name and application fields. Open the actual exported file and verify that the relevant text remains readable. A correctly formatted working draft does not prove that an exported file or uploaded version is correct.
Use an appropriate application contact. Add other personal fields only where required or relevant to the actual process; this guide does not prescribe sharing identity documents, private records or irrelevant personal details with a resume. Submit through the verified employer route.
If a prescribed application form is required, a resume may supplement that form rather than replace it. Keep the same qualification and experience status in both. A submitted application is separate from delivery confirmation, recruiter review and selection.
Frequently asked questions
Can a fresher resume include independent practice? Describe it accurately as independent practice and explain its actual inputs and checks. Do not call it employment or client work unless that is true.
Must I include a profile and every sample heading? No. Use sections that help explain your actual relevant evidence and satisfy the application instructions.
Should every bullet include a percentage improvement? No. A count or finite checked result can be concrete. Do not invent a measurement or outcome.
Can tailoring change my qualification or work context? No. It can change emphasis and wording while preserving the actual facts.
