Flipkart Recruitment Process: Official Stages and Prep Guides

Flipkart documents its hiring process on its own careers site. The site has a seven-stage "How We Hire" page, an FAQ, and downloadable interview preparation guides for several roles. This breakdown uses those official sources, checked on 9 October 2026, and points out where they're dated or silent, so you know what to confirm with your recruiter.

Where to apply

Go to Flipkart Careers and use Explore Jobs and Teams, which opens Flipkart's job listings on a TurboHire-hosted career page (flipkart.turbohire.co). The FAQ on the How We Hire page answers several practical questions:

  • Best way to apply: through the career website. You can filter by skills and job title, upload your resume and create a Candidate Profile, then track your application on the Candidate Dashboard.
  • One application at a time: while your profile is being considered for one role, you can't apply for another opening.
  • Reapplying: there's no limit on how many times you can apply, but there's a six-month cooling period if you didn't clear your last interview.
  • Resume length: there's no page limit, but Flipkart asks for information that is "precise and to the point".
  • Dress code: none. "Formal? Semi-formal? Casual? Whatever works for you."

Flipkart's seven published hiring stages

#StageWhat Flipkart says
01Submit your applicationRecruiters work with hiring managers to understand your profile.
02Application assessmentIf your skills and experience fit, your resume is shortlisted and you're told about the next stages.
03Technical screeningDepending on the role, a technical phone screen may come before the onsite interview.
04Onsite interviewYour recruiter tells you how many rounds to expect.
05Hiring committee reviewInterviewers submit feedback, and "an independent hiring committee, along with interviewers and recruiters, takes a collective call".
06Offer rolloutRecruiters share your interview feedback and next steps, and make an offer if you're selected.
07JoiningPaperwork and a joining date. Your recruiter stays in touch throughout.

The hiring committee stage matters for your preparation. Your result doesn't rest on a single interviewer's impression, so consistency across rounds is likely to count. Don't rely on one strong round to make up for a weak one.

Inside the official SDE preparation guide

Flipkart's careers site hosts a Software Development Engineer interview guide (PDF). Its file metadata shows it was created in February 2020, and it mentions phone/Hangouts calls. Treat the structure below as Flipkart's documented format, and confirm the current version with your recruiter.

PhaseRoundDuration in the guideWhat it tests
1Exploratory discussion30 minutesA conversation with your potential hiring manager about your experience, expectations and aspirations
1Technical phone screen60 minutesPast work, role eligibility and some problem solving. It happens case by case, and there may be more than one.
2Machine coding120 minutesExecutable, modular code for a detailed problem, then a demo against the interviewer's test cases
2Problem solving and data structures60 minutes1–3 problems on common data structures and algorithms
2Design60 minutesEither system design (e.g. "Design Twitter") or object-oriented design (e.g. "Design a Parking Lot")
2Team fitment60 minutesAspirations, self-awareness, leadership and stakeholder management, with your potential team lead or hiring manager
2Culture fitment60 minutesPast experiences, career aspirations, hypothetical scenarios, strengths and weaknesses

The guide lists the data structures it expects you to know: arrays, linked lists, stacks, queues, hash maps, trees, graphs and heaps. It also lists common algorithm types: string manipulation, two pointers, searching, sorting, backtracking, bit manipulation and dynamic programming. You'll code on a laptop in machine coding and on paper or a whiteboard in the problem-solving round.

Other roles have their own guides. The data scientist guide (PDF), also dated 2020, replaces machine coding with a presentation round, a 120-minute hands-on skills round, and depth rounds on data science and mathematical modelling. The same folder also has guides for engineering managers and architects.

Worked example: a 120-minute machine-coding rehearsal

Machine coding is the longest round in the SDE guide. The guide splits it into 15 minutes of pre-coding, 90 minutes of coding and a 15-minute demo, with "1 or 2 checkpoints" during coding. You can rehearse that exact shape at home.

Illustrative practice problem (written for this article, not a known Flipkart question): build an in-memory delivery-slot booking service. Customers can view available slots for a pincode, book a slot, and cancel. Each slot has a fixed capacity.

ClockWhat you doGuide criterion it serves
0:00–0:15List requirements and ask about edge cases: overbooking, cancelling a past slot, invalid pincodes"Ask as many questions as you need"
0:15–0:25Sketch the classes (Slot, Booking, SlotService) and the interfaces between them before writing code"Design your solution… before starting coding"
0:25–0:55Implement viewing and booking end to end, then run it (your first self-checkpoint)"Executable, functionally correct"
0:55–1:25Add cancellation and capacity checks without rewriting the booking logic (second checkpoint)"Accommodate new requirements with minimum changes"
1:25–1:45Refactor names, split responsibilities and handle errors cleanly"Modular and readable", "separation of concern"
1:45–2:00Demo with test cases: book until full, cancel, rebook, invalid inputPost-coding demo with the interviewer's test cases

The phases add up to exactly 120 minutes: 15 + 10 + 30 + 30 + 20 + 15. After the rehearsal, score yourself honestly. Did it run first time? Did adding cancellation force you to change code you'd already written? That second question is the one the guide's "minimum changes" criterion is getting at.

For the other rounds, use our worked coding interview answers and system design interview guide. For data roles, try our data science interview exercises.

Preparing for the culture round

The SDE guide names four values: Audacity, Bias for Action, Customer First and Integrity. Flipkart's current About Us page lists audacity, bias for action, customer-first, integrity and inclusion, so prepare for all five.

The guide's advice for this round is direct:

  • "There are no right or wrong answers. Be honest and think thoroughly before you answer."
  • "It's okay to openly admit past failures… we place intent and commitment over success."
  • "It's not an interrogation, it's a discussion."

So prepare one real story per value, including at least one where you failed or were wrong. Structure each story with the STAR method, and keep the numbers ones you can explain.

Questions to ask your recruiter

The How We Hire page says your recruiter will explain the number of onsite rounds and encourages questions. Ask:

  1. Which of the documented rounds apply to this role and level, and are any of them now virtual?
  2. Is there a machine-coding round? If so, which languages and setup are allowed?
  3. Is the design round system design or object-oriented design?
  4. What's the expected timeline after the hiring committee review?

Flipkart also says you'll receive a feedback form once your interview process is complete.

Avoid fake Flipkart job offers

Flipkart's scam advisory on Flipkart Stories says plainly: "Flipkart never charges for jobs or contracts." It warns that scammers post fake ads or demand "commissions" for employment, and that fake "delivery hub" or franchise offers demand upfront fees. Flipkart says it does not charge fees for franchises.

Bottom line

Flipkart's published process runs from application to technical screening, onsite rounds and an independent hiring committee review before an offer. The role guides show a demanding onsite for engineers: machine coding, data structures, design, then team and culture rounds. They are from 2020, though, so rehearse their format but confirm today's rounds with your recruiter.
