Most lists of "Accenture interview questions" mix old campus anecdotes with guesses about cut-offs and salaries. This guide does two things instead. First, it sets out what Accenture's own careers pages say about how hiring works, as checked in October 2026. Second, it gives you a practice set for each round, with worked answers you can adapt. Treat the practice questions as illustrative. They are the kind of questions IT services interviews commonly cover. They are not a leaked list of what Accenture will ask you.
What Accenture officially says about its hiring process
Accenture's India recruitment process and careers FAQ page describes these stages: your application is confirmed, recruiters review it, you're contacted if selected, then come interviews, a skills assessment for some roles, and an offer. The details that matter most for Indian candidates:
| Topic | What the official page says | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Active applications (India) | Candidates in India "may have only one active application at any time" | Choose the role carefully before you apply |
| Interview format | Phone, video or in person; the number of interviews "depends on the role" | Don't trust a fixed "four rounds" claim; ask your recruiter |
| Assessment window | Completed online in one sitting within the timeframe specified, typically within 72 hours | Block a quiet slot early in the window |
| Assessment length | Most take about 30–90 minutes; the invitation confirms the exact time | Read the timer rules before starting |
| Format | A coding environment "designed to reflect real engineering tasks", on a laptop or desktop | Practise typing code, not just solving MCQs |
| Scoring | Scored automatically against predefined criteria; candidates who reach a "validated threshold" go to the next stage | Correct, tested output matters |
| AI use | External AI tools are not permitted; some questions may show a built-in AI Assistant inside the platform | Use only what the platform itself offers |
| Retakes | If you fail, you must wait at least 90 days before retaking the same assessment | One careful attempt beats a rushed one |
| Fees | "No one is ever required to pay for employment at Accenture" | Any request for money is a scam signal |
The same page says the assessment "does not replace interviews". Recruiters review your results alongside your experience. For practice, Accenture points candidates to HackerRank's free sample test and candidate knowledge base, so get used to that interface before test day.
Keep preparing

Online coding rounds at IT services firms usually reward clean handling of strings, arrays and edge cases. Here is one worked practice problem in Python.
Practice question: Given a sentence, return the words in reverse order with single spaces, ignoring extra spaces.
def reverse_words(sentence: str) -> str:
words = sentence.split() # split() drops repeated and edge spaces
return " ".join(reversed(words))
assert reverse_words("hello world") == "world hello"
assert reverse_words(" Accenture interview prep ") == "prep interview Accenture"
assert reverse_words("") == ""
assert reverse_words("one") == "one"
Before you code, say how you plan to handle empty input, single words and repeated spaces. That habit carries over into interviews. Accenture's FAQ says it is "not only looking for the correct answer" but also how you approach problems.
Other practice problems worth timing yourself on:
- Count how often each character appears in a string and print the counts in order of first appearance.
- Return the second-largest distinct number in a list, or a clear message if there isn't one.
- Check whether two strings are anagrams, ignoring case and spaces.
- Remove duplicates from a list while keeping the original order.
Technical interview practice questions
These are typical fundamentals questions for freshers and early-career developers. The pointers show what a complete answer covers.
| Practice question | What a strong answer includes |
|---|---|
| Explain the four pillars of OOP with one example from your project | Encapsulation, abstraction, inheritance and polymorphism, tied to a class you actually wrote |
| What is the difference between a process and a thread? | Separate memory space versus shared memory within a process; trade-offs in isolation and switching cost |
| Primary key vs unique key | Both enforce uniqueness. A table has one primary key and it can't be NULL; it can have several unique constraints, and NULL handling in unique columns varies by database |
| Write SQL for the second-highest salary | SELECT MAX(salary) FROM employees WHERE salary < (SELECT MAX(salary) FROM employees); then explain how ties and NULLs behave |
| TCP vs UDP | Connection-oriented with delivery guarantees versus connectionless with lower overhead; give one use case each |
| Walk me through your final-year project | Your specific role, the hardest bug, what you would change, and how you tested it |
For the project question, prepare a two-minute version and a deeper version. Interviewers often go from "what did you build" to "why did you choose that database" within a minute.
HR and behavioural practice questions
An Accenture recruiter's interview tips post on Accenture's careers blog advises writing out three to five examples in the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result) and practising them aloud. It also says to put the notes away on interview day. The same post suggests asking one or two thoughtful questions at the end, and sending a concise follow-up afterwards.
Practise these out loud:
- Tell me about yourself. Cover your current role or studies, one relevant achievement, and why this role fits your next step. Keep it under two minutes.
- Why Accenture? Point to something specific in the job description or the business area you applied to. "It's a big company" is not an answer.
- Describe a time you missed a deadline or made a mistake. Show your own actions and what you changed afterwards.
- How do you handle a teammate who isn't delivering? Show a direct conversation, not escalation as your first step.
- Are you comfortable with the location, shift or travel conditions in this role? If the posting lists such conditions, answer honestly. A "yes" you can't keep will hurt you later.
For full model answers to common HR questions, see our guide to common HR interview questions in India. To build stories that hold up under follow-up questions, see the STAR method interview guide.
A one-page prep tracker you can copy
Fill this in from your actual job description. It turns a vague "prepare for Accenture" into a short list of checkable tasks.
| Line from the job description | My evidence (project, internship, course) | Practice question I will rehearse | Done? |
|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. "Java and SQL" | Library system project: wrote 6 REST endpoints and the schema | "Explain a JOIN you wrote and why" | |
| e.g. "Good communication" | Led a 4-person college team demo | "Tell me about a disagreement in your team" | |
| e.g. "Willing to learn new tools" | Learned Git for an internship in two weeks | "How do you learn an unfamiliar technology?" |
The rows are illustrative. Replace them with your own lines and evidence. If a line has no evidence, either build some (a small project, a course with a graded assignment) or be ready to say honestly how you would close the gap.
Assessment-day checklist
Based on the instructions in Accenture's official FAQ:
- Read the instructions and the total time limit on the first screen before you start.
- Plan uninterrupted time and a stable internet connection. If your connection is unreliable, run a speed test and choose another day within the window.
- Practise on HackerRank's sample test beforehand so the editor and test-case runner feel familiar.
- Don't open external AI tools. Use a built-in assistant only if the platform shows one.
- If something breaks, use the support contacts in your invitation.
Spotting fake "Accenture" offers
Accenture's careers page warns about fraudulent messages that ask job seekers to pay for applying or onboarding. It states that no one is ever required to pay. Treat any request for a "registration", "training" or "equipment" fee as a red flag. Verify the role on the official Accenture careers job search before you share documents.
Key takeaways
- The number of rounds depends on the role. Ask your recruiter rather than relying on forum posts.
- If your role has an assessment, it is a timed coding task with automatic scoring and a 90-day wait before a retake.
- In India you can have only one active application, so pick your role deliberately.
- Prepare three to five STAR stories and a two-minute project walkthrough, and rehearse them aloud.
