Two notifications dated 07.09.2021 issued by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Government of Punjab, withdraw earlier land acquisition proceedings initiated under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 for the Mega Township Project in Village Balo Majra and Daun, Tehsil Mohali, District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. The withdrawal covers 2.68125 acres (21 Kanal 9 Marla) and 4.78125 acres (38 Kanal 5 Marla) respectively, following a mutual land exchange by M/s Taneja Developers and Infrastructure Ltd. and subsequent request for withdrawal. The action is taken under Section 93(1) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, after the repeal of the 1894 Act. The acquired land was intended for planned urban development under the Mohali Master Plan. Copies have been forwarded to PUDA, GMADA, and other concerned authorities for information and necessary action.
