CTET Full Form — Central Teacher Eligibility Test

CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility Test — an exam conducted by CBSE to determine teaching eligibility for classes 1 to 8 in schools under central government organisations such as Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas.

CTET has two papers: Paper 1 (for candidates aiming to teach classes 1–5) and Paper 2 (for classes 6–8). Candidates can appear for one or both papers depending on which teaching level they're targeting.

Passing CTET establishes eligibility but does not guarantee a teaching post — candidates still need to apply separately to specific school recruitment processes. Many states also run their own state-level TET exams (e.g. UPTET, MPTET) with similar eligibility scope limited to that state.
