TCS Campus Placement: Drive Rules and Preparation Checklist

Reviewed on 9 October 2026: The two official TCS recruitment pages discussed below show registration as closed. They are useful examples of different fresher routes, not invitations to apply now. A college's campus placement event also needs its own current invitation and instructions; an all-India recruitment page does not establish your college's arrangements.

Use this guide to identify the relevant route, check the actual notice and prepare evidence for a placement process. It does not promise a fixed interview sequence, a particular package or selection. The examples are original practice scenarios, not reports of candidates hired by TCS.

Two official routes with different rules

The TCS All India NQT hiring page covers the 2024–2026 batches and specified engineering/postgraduate degrees. Its reviewed rules include 60% aggregate across applicable academic stages, no pending backlog at selection, full-time study, a maximum 24-month academic gap, age 18–28 and experience up to two years. Read the source for qualification details and conditions. It describes a 190-minute assessment: 75 minutes foundation and 115 minutes advanced. Its NextStep process includes an explicit drive-application step and the status “Applied for Drive.”

The separate TCS BSc Ignite 2026 page covers BCA, specified BSc subjects and BVoc CS/IT. Its academic minimum is 50% across applicable stages, with additional eligibility conditions in the source. It describes a 120-minute in-person assessment including optional coding. The reviewed registration deadline was 22 July 2026 and test date 26 August 2026. Its completed-application status is “Application Received.”

Both pages currently say closed. Their different conditions and statuses show why a generic “TCS placement process” checklist can mislead. Confirm the exact event before using a test duration, cutoff, application instruction or status label.

Identify your campus event before filling forms

For a campus invitation, ask your placement cell for the employer's event reference, eligible courses and passing-out years, registration route, deadline, assessment arrangements and required documents. Use the actual invitation rather than reconstructing it from classmates' screenshots.

Keep the invitation and any correction together. If a college message and an employer page seem inconsistent, identify whether they refer to the same event. A national drive, an older campus event and a different graduate programme can all use the same company name while having different rules.

Creating an account is also different from applying to a drive. Check the relevant process's actual completion evidence. A saved profile, an application receipt, assessment allocation, interview invitation and offer are separate stages. Do not describe yourself as shortlisted merely because registration succeeded.

If an application window has closed, preparing for a future opportunity is sensible; attempting to relabel the old deadline as current is not. Look for a genuinely new official event or your college's current instructions. This guide has not verified an open replacement drive for every course or college.

Build a qualification and evidence record

Write one record for the event you are considering. Include the source and checked date, your course and cohort, academic records, any backlog or gap information, and the questions still unresolved. Distinguish an apparent match on one field from meeting the whole eligibility rule.

Do not convert CGPA using an invented formula. Use the conversion method required by the relevant process and supported by your institution. If a percentage calculation includes all subjects, a self-selected subset can produce a misleading result. Keep the underlying records available for clarification.

Likewise, record what a document actually shows. A current marksheet, final result and degree certificate are not interchangeable merely because they concern the same course. Ask which document is required at the current stage and when any remaining document must be supplied.

The purpose is to make an accurate declaration, not find wording that disguises a mismatch. Do not conceal a gap, experience or an unresolved result. If a rule is unclear, ask through the relevant official or placement-cell channel and retain the answer's scope.

Worked example: select a notice without inventing eligibility

In a fictional preparation exercise, Anika is a full-time BCA student in the 2026 cohort. She has the specified course name in her records and wants to know which of the two reviewed pages is relevant to read first. The Ignite page lists her course; the reviewed NQT page's degree list does not. This is a route-identification observation, not a selection decision.

Anika's next record should say: “Check the course-relevant notice's complete conditions; current registration is closed; college-specific event and remaining eligibility evidence are unknown.” It should not say “eligible and applied.” Her course alone cannot establish every condition, and identifying a relevant page does not reopen its application window.

Suppose a classmate then shares an undated invitation. Anika should identify its event and obtain current instructions before using it. The fictional exercise does not claim she contacted a placement cell, received a new invitation or completed an application.

This method also prevents a different mistake: using another programme's assessment instructions because its practice material is easier to find. Keep each event's instructions beside the relevant record rather than merging them into a universal test plan.

Prepare for the stated assessment

Once you know the actual event, list its named sections, time limits, permitted tools, test mode and access requirements. Make your practice plan from those requirements. A resource that uses the label NQT is not automatically the same as the particular hiring event you are entering.

For numerical and reasoning practice, record the question, your answer and the reason for any error. For verbal practice, check whether the problem was comprehension, grammar, vocabulary or time management. For coding practice, explain the contract, produce a working solution and test boundaries. Track the kind of error rather than only the number of questions attempted.

A personal practice session might allocate time to one weak topic and a later review. Label its timing as your own plan. It is not an employer's assessment duration or scoring rule. Completing a practice session does not establish that you received a test allocation or passed a recruitment stage.

Prepare an interview explanation you can defend

Choose a project or task you actually completed. Explain the problem, your contribution, the design choice, a test you ran and a limitation that remains. If you worked in a team, identify which parts you owned and which someone else completed.

Use an artifact you are allowed to share. A synthetic demonstration can show an approach without exposing an internship client's private data. Label it as a demonstration if it was not used by real users. Do not invent deployment, performance improvements or employer clients to make an answer sound stronger.

Practise answering a follow-up about a failed case. For example, explain how you discovered an input your code mishandled and what you changed. This shows a reasoning process within your actual evidence. It does not establish which questions TCS will ask or how an interviewer will rate the answer.

Avoid memorising a supposed fixed list of technical, managerial and HR rounds. The relevant invitation and actual communication establish your process. An online account of one candidate's experience does not guarantee the same sequence for another event.

Check logistics and communication

Before an assessment or interview, use the actual invitation to check venue or access details, reporting time, identity requirements, documents and the official support route. A preferred city is not a confirmed allocation. Keep the receipt or invitation that actually establishes the next step.

The reviewed TCS NQT page states that it does not request a deposit for an employment offer and identifies TCS iON as its test partner. Treat a suspicious payment or communication claim as something to verify through the official source. The existence of an authorised test partner does not mean every unrelated third-party message is authorised.

No part of this guide asks you to pay for an employment offer. Practice resources should describe their own service accurately and should not imply employer affiliation, guaranteed selection or access to confidential questions.

Frequently asked questions

Is a campus placement invitation the same as an all-India drive?

Do not assume that. Identify the event, source and instructions for your college. The official pages above describe their own routes, not every campus arrangement.

Does a portal account confirm my application?

Check the completion evidence stated for the relevant event. Account creation, drive application and later recruitment stages are separate actions.

Can this page confirm my eligibility?

It can help you find and read the relevant notice. Your actual records and the event's complete rules are needed, and the employer makes the selection-process determinations.
