Best Job Portals in India: Features, Fit and a Search Worksheet

The best job portal for your search is the one that helps you find relevant, verifiable vacancies and manage applications you can realistically pursue. That choice depends on your role, experience and location. A feature comparison is more useful than a ranking based on unexplained response rates or promises of placement.

This guide compares broad portals, specialist channels and official recruitment sources. It uses provider documentation for features and offers a practical selection worksheet. It does not claim to be a hands-on experiment or a measured ranking of hiring outcomes.

Editorially revised on 8 October 2026. Features and availability can change; check the current service before relying on a particular option.

Start with your search requirements

Choose one or two target roles, the experience level you can substantiate and locations where you can work. For remote roles, record the countries and working hours you can accept. “Remote” does not automatically mean an India-based applicant is eligible.

Write down the minimum information you need from a vacancy: responsibilities, mandatory requirements, location, engagement type, application instructions and employer identity. A portal showing many results may still produce a poor shortlist if those details do not match your needs.

Use one broad channel and one relevant specialist or official channel initially. Add employers' own career pages for organisations you are actively researching. This is a practical starting point, not a claim that exactly two platforms work for every applicant.

Compare channels by their purpose

ChannelUseful starting pointCheck before relying on it
NaukriBroad private-sector search and job alertsVacancy fit, recruiter identity and the difference between free search tools and paid services
LinkedInJob searches alongside professional profiles and company informationRole filters, genuine employer page and the stated application route
IndeedBroad role and location searches, including remote optionsDuplicate listings, actual location eligibility and employer confirmation
founditAnother broad job-search channelCurrent vacancy details and any service terms
WellfoundStartup-focused opportunitiesHires Remotely From, role scope and compensation definitions
hirist.techTechnology-focused vacanciesRequired technical depth and experience for the particular opening
InternshalaInternship and fresher opportunitiesWhether a listing is an internship, job or separate paid course
National Career ServiceGovernment-supported career and vacancy servicesEmployer identity and the concerned recruiting body's instructions
Employer or recruiting body's websiteOriginal vacancy and application instructionsDeadline, eligibility, corrections and the official application system

These are possible uses, not guarantees of listing quality. A specialist portal is not automatically better for every specialist applicant, and a broad portal is not automatically unsuitable for freshers.

Naukri: distinguish alerts from paid services

Naukri documents free job alerts, which can help maintain a focused search. Use role and location criteria that reflect your actual target and review the relevance of results.

Paid resume or visibility services are a separate decision. Naukri's paid-services FAQ states that these services do not guarantee interview calls or placement. Compare the current deliverables, price and terms before paying. Do not treat a request for money from an unfamiliar recruiter as the same thing as purchasing an optional service from a verified provider.

LinkedIn: combine filters with employer research

LinkedIn's job-search guidance describes filters including location, date posted, company, experience and employment type. Use them to reduce irrelevant results, then read the full vacancy.

A professional profile can help explain your experience, but a polished profile does not independently verify every message you receive. Check the employer's official information and whether a contact is authorised. “Easy Apply” describes an application route; it does not mean the role is easier to obtain or that the recruiter will respond sooner.

Our LinkedIn profile guide covers truthful profile evidence. The separate networking guide provides conversation and referral scripts.

Indeed: inspect the actual vacancy conditions

Use job-title and location searches, and remote filters where available. Indeed's remote guidance warns that remote roles may still require residence in particular locations. Confirm unclear conditions with the employer.

When the same vacancy appears on several sites, compare the details with the original employer posting where possible. Record which application route you used so that you do not accidentally submit inconsistent versions through several channels. An old date or a missing detail is a reason to verify whether recruitment is still open.

foundit, Wellfound and hirist.tech: use current identities

foundit is the current brand formerly known as Monster. Do not count Monster India and foundit as separate current platforms merely to make a comparison list longer.

Wellfound was formerly AngelList Talent and focuses on startup recruitment. For remote searches, its filter documentation distinguishes company headquarters from where applicants may be hired. Review the individual vacancy's eligibility and whether a quoted amount is salary, contractor compensation or something else.

hirist.tech describes its focus on technology roles, including development, data and related specialisms. Use specific skill requirements to judge whether an opening fits. A platform's technology focus does not establish that all its roles are suitable for an entry-level applicant.

Internshala: distinguish opportunities from courses

Internshala offers internship and fresher job sections alongside training products. Read the particular listing rather than treating all parts of the website as the same service.

For an internship, verify the responsibilities, duration, work arrangement, stipend terms and supervision. For a job, check employment requirements and the actual offer terms. If you are considering a course, review its syllabus, total price and placement-related conditions separately. A training purchase should not be confused with an employer's confirmed offer.

NCS and official government recruitment

The National Career Service states that it does not charge for registration, job applications or interview processing. Verify the employer and the recruitment process. NCS warns that some websites and people falsely claim an association with it; confirm communications through its official website.

For government posts, the concerned recruiting body's notification governs eligibility, dates, examination fees and application instructions. A portal's free registration does not mean every official examination application is free. Read the notice and any subsequent corrections at the official source before submitting details or payment.

You can use our government jobs hub to discover notices, then follow the official recruiting body's instructions. Do not assume that applying to a private-sector portal replaces the required government application.

Evaluate usefulness using your own search record

Run a short review period that suits your schedule. Record comparable information for each channel:

Portal or source:
Search terms and filters:
Vacancies reviewed:
Roles matching mandatory requirements:
Verified applications submitted:
Responses and current stage:
Time spent and unresolved questions:

Distinguish a portal's automatic acknowledgement from an employer response. A rejection, screening call and interview invitation are different outcomes. A small personal record can help decide where to spend your time, but it does not establish a platform-wide success rate.

If one channel produces few relevant vacancies, change the terms or test a more suitable specialist source. If relevant applications produce no progress, examine your evidence, timing and application quality before assuming the portal is responsible. The weekly search workflow helps organise that review.

Apply the same safety checks everywhere

Verify company identity, the application route and unusual requests. Be cautious about payment demands, equipment-purchase schemes and requests to transfer money; Indeed's safe-search guidance describes such warning signs. No platform name removes the need for verification.

Do not send passwords, OTPs or account access. Avoid sharing unnecessary identity documents before establishing a legitimate onboarding process. Save the vacancy and relevant correspondence so that you can check what was actually offered.

Frequently asked questions

Which portal is best for freshers?

Compare explicit entry-level requirements on broad portals, internship or fresher channels and employer sites. Choose based on actual suitable vacancies rather than a universal ranking.

Should I pay for premium services?

Evaluate the current deliverables and terms against a specific need. Paid visibility or resume assistance does not guarantee selection.

Can I rely on a job alert alone?

Use it to discover an opening, then read and verify the full vacancy. Confirm deadlines, eligibility and the official application instructions before applying.
