IBPS participating-bank recruitment, SBI recruitment and RBI recruitment are different routes. Choosing between them begins with the institution, post and official notice, not a generic list of “bank exam” subjects or salaries. This guide compares three clearly identified historical 2025 recruitment examples, then provides an original worksheet for choosing a preparation route. It does not announce a current application window or claim that the historical notices are the latest available.

Before applying in October 2026 or later, consult the current official notice, amendments and call-letter instructions for your actual recruitment.
Identify the recruiter and the role first
IBPS conducts a common recruitment process for participating banks named in the relevant notice. That process should not be treated as the application mechanism for every bank. SBI's cited PO advertisement is its own recruitment. RBI's cited Grade B advertisement concerns separate cadres and selection schemes. An examination provider, an employing bank and a central bank are not interchangeable labels.

These are illustrative official routes, not a complete list of banking jobs. Assistant, clerical/customer-service, specialist, contractual and other roles may have different notices. The acronym RRB in a banking notice can mean Regional Rural Banks; it should not be confused with Railway Recruitment Boards. Identify the issuer before using a resource that merely says “RRB exam”.

The official CRP PO/MT-XV detailed notification identifies participating public-sector banks and vacancies of 2026–27, although its registration calendar belongs to 2025. Its process includes preliminary and main examinations, a mandatory non-qualifying personality test before interview, and interview. The notice gives main-examination and interview scores a relative weighting of 80:20. These facts describe that notice, not every IBPS examination.
For planning, save the bank list, post, eligibility reference dates, stage scheme and document instructions from the exact notice. Do not assume that the year in a vacancy description identifies an open registration period. Check subsequent amendments and communications as well. Provisional allotment and a final appointment are subject to the stated conditions; qualifying a stage is not a universal appointment guarantee.
An exam-based process should not be described as resume keyword shortlisting unless the actual recruitment says so. SBI: use SBI's own advertisement
The historical SBI PO advertisement CRPD/PO/2025-26/04 sets out Phase I preliminary examination, Phase II main examination, and Phase III psychometric test, group exercise and interview. Its June–July 2025 application period is historical. A call letter does not finally establish eligibility under the notice.
That scheme demonstrates why “all bank exams have prelims, mains and interview” is too imprecise. Even where labels overlap, components and conditions differ. Read the detailed scheme and its treatment of scores rather than inferring equivalence from a coaching timetable. Other SBI roles or later PO notices require their own check; this example does not establish their stages, pay or eligibility.
For current applications, locate the relevant advertisement through SBI's official careers channels. Cross-check the advertisement number and date against the application portal before entering personal information or paying any fee. Do not use an old PDF's application link as proof that recruitment is currently open.
RBI: separate General from specialist cadres
The official RBI Grade B panel-year 2025 notice, dated 10 September 2025, identifies General, DEPR and DSIM cadres. Its selection scheme refers to Phase I, Phase II and interview, with separate appendices for General and the specialist streams. Treating them as one interchangeable syllabus or qualification would obscure important differences.
During this editorial review, the official notice's substantive text was available through search retrieval, while direct page access encountered human-verification or connection restrictions. We did not bypass them or independently download every appendix. The comparison therefore stays at the verified route level and does not reproduce detailed qualification percentages, attempts, salary or examination tables. Use the official RBI vacancies listing and the applicable notice for a current application.
If you are considering a specialist cadre, verify the exact academic discipline and qualifying conditions before building a study plan. Familiarity with general aptitude topics does not establish eligibility or readiness for specialised papers. Record unresolved conditions as questions to check, not as assumptions that a coaching description can settle.
Build a notice worksheet
Create one worksheet for each actual recruitment you are considering. Enter the issuer, advertisement number, post/cadre, notice date, amendments checked, registration window and eligibility reference dates. Copy the relevant conditions accurately and keep the source page or section alongside each entry. Do not merge two notices into one generic eligibility row.

An original preparation-choice exercise
Imagine a fictional candidate, Sana, comparing two open notices that she has independently verified. She has six study sessions available each week and records her accuracy and completion time in topic exercises. One route contains an additional written component for which she has little practice. She does not conclude that the route is impossible or that another is easy. She records the extra preparation demand.
Sana creates three lists: shared topics supported by both schemes, route-specific work, and unresolved eligibility or timetable questions. She schedules a diagnostic exercise for the unfamiliar component and reviews the result before choosing a primary route. The six-session figure is an illustration of planning, not a recommended timetable or a promise of readiness within a set number of weeks.
When a practice score is low, classify the errors: misunderstood concept, calculation, reading, time allocation or guessing. Compare like-for-like exercises using the same scheme and scoring assumptions. A score from a different exam or outdated pattern is not a reliable forecast. Paid resources should be checked against the actual syllabus before purchase; a familiar brand cannot make an irrelevant package suitable.
Keep preparation and employment expectations distinct
An examination route does not establish a universal salary, posting, transfer policy, work schedule or promotion timeline. Read the relevant notice and employer terms for those questions. Avoid choosing a route solely from a headline gross-pay comparison without understanding its date, components and conditions. This guide deliberately provides no unsupported current pay table.
