The Government of Tripura has issued a notification authorising Assistant Public Prosecutors of all Courts of Judicial Magistrates of the State to compound the offences mentioned under Sub-section (1) of Section 200 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. This is in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 200 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The compounding amount for an offence shall not be less than 50% of the minimum fine prescribed in the aforesaid relevant penal section of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. This is issued without any prejudice to the general power(s) conferred upon by the State Government to any other authority under Section 200 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
