The decrease in the number of vacancies filled can be attributed to the fact that employers preferred to fill vacancies through open market. The Regional Employment Exchange, Chandigarh, has experienced a shortage of suitable applicants in certain trades, including Receptionist, Telephone Operator, Life Guard, Workshop Instructor, House Keeper, Chinese Cook, Welder Instructor, Cookery, Guest Faculty, and Draftsman Instructor CTI. On the other hand, there is a surplus of applicants in certain categories, including High School teachers, Nursery Teachers, Art & Craft Teachers, Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineers (Diploma Holders), D/Man (Civil) Typists, Data Entry Operator, Bus Conductors, Drivers, Sweepers, Fitter, Turner, Welder, Plumber, and educated Fresher.
