Cabinet clears Rs 1.9 Lakh crore push for chip, mobile phone manufacturing

The Union Cabinet has approved two major schemes to enhance India's semiconductor and mobile phone manufacturing capabilities, with a total financial allocation of ₹1.89 lakh crore. The second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission will receive ₹1.27 lakh crore, aimed at fostering the development of semiconductor manufacturing in India. Additionally, a new scheme worth ₹62,500 crore will promote mobile phone production and encourage domestic sourcing, underscoring the government's commitment to boosting the electronics manufacturing sector.
