The Government of India, Lakshadweep Administration, has appointed three Executive Magistrates under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. The appointments are for the positions of Deputy Collector cum CEO South, Deputy Collector cum CEO North, and Deputy Collector cum CEO East. The magistrates will have jurisdiction in specific islands and islets in Lakshadweep. They will exercise all or any of the powers exercisable by an Executive Magistrate under the said code. The appointments are effective from the date on which the officers take over charge and remain till such period they hold the charge.
