The Government of India, Union Territory of Lakshadweep Administration, Department of Environment and Forest, has prohibited the use of single-use plastic in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. The notification, dated 13-04-2021, prohibits the use of 10 more items of single-use plastic, including plastic and plastic-coated sacs/bags, single-use plastic cutleries, plastic garbage bags, PVC flex materials, and others. The notification comes into effect from 15th April 2021 in all islands, including territorial waters of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
