Applications are invited for the following purely project based temporary positions at G.B. PANT NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HIMALAYAN ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. The candidates with adequate qualifications and appropriate experience in relevant subject/specialization with good academic records may appear for Walk-In-Interview on 25 June, 2018 at 10:00 AM onwards at Kosi-Katarmal (Almora) campus of the Institute. The positions are for the following projects: NMHS funded project: 'Timberline and Altitudinal Gradient Ecology of Himalayas, and Human Use Sustenance in a Warming Climate' and DST funded project: 'Forest Resources and Plant Biodiversity' under National Mission for Sustainable Himalayan Ecosystem (NMSHE)-Task Force-3. The details of the positions are as follows: Position 1: Junior Project Fellow (JPF)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) 01 No. Emoluments: @ Rs. 16,000/ pm + HRA as per rule (for Non-NET)/ Rs. 25,000 pm +HRA as per rule (for NET-JRF qualified) Age: 28 years Qualification: First Class Masters Degree in Environmental Sciences/Geology/Geography/ Earth Sciences/ Hydrology/ Physics/ Mathematics/ Atmospheric Science Desirable: Experience of research work in Himalaya; Knowledge of ecological Modeling, statistical analysis and scientific presentations; Good communication skills Nature of Duties: Undertake extensive field work in high altitude areas of Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Sikkim; Conduct field research, experimentation, data analysis and modeling work Position 2: Junior Project Fellow (JPF)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) 02 Nos. Emoluments: @ Rs. 16,000/ pm + HRA as per rule (for Non-NET)/ Rs. 25,000 pm +HRA as per rule (for NET-JRF qualified) Age: 28 years Qualification: For Position 1: First class Masters Degree in Physics/Mathematics/Atmospheric Science/Climate Change/Forestry/Botany/Ecology/Remote Sensing & GIS For Position 2: First Class Masters degree in Botany/Forestry/Environmental Sciences with consistently good academic records. Desirable: For Position 1:Experience of working in Himalaya; Knowledge of ecological Modeling, statistical analysis, programming, and RS & GIS; Good communication skills For Position 2: Field Research, data base development, data analysis and report writing/presentation Nature of Duties: Assessment of climate change impacts on Forest Resources & Plant Biodiversity Appointment will be made initially for one year and likely to be continued in the following years based on satisfactory progress and performance of the candidate. Relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically handicapped candidates as per Govt. of India norms will be applicable.
